April 2nd was an enormously satisfying day for many of us. After a long 7 hour butt-numbing drive from Cincinnati to Atlanta, I landed there a little late but explosively nonetheless...

I was making my daily rounds in the neighborhood the other day & on my run to the corner store, I stopped into a friend's shop and was delighted with this new order from a line called "Out Of Print."

In this new digital age where the nature of reading is rapidly evolving, tweets and blog links are replacing books, journals and magazines. What I find ironic is how all these books not only survived the banishment of a  "Banned Books List", but also became historical classics, and today are becoming forgotten once again.

A few weeks ago, I completed all my certifications for tattooing. As new exciting as this path is, it still manages to feel like home. "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear" is something I always say, and has especially rang true in this instance. The picture right above is of me tattooing myself for the first time. The first image is from tattooing a pattern of mermaid gills on my big sister Lauren Belle's hip. Both images were taken on her Blackberry.

As an apprentice, my rates start at the rockiest of rock bottoms, for simple tattoos such as line symbols, images with minimal shading, and lettering.

Dear Atlanta,
I've missed you like the Express MARTA bus but here I shall be back home to water my southern roots and thensome…a few of my artsyfartsysmartsy debonaires & I have teamed up to produce "The Wonderful World Of…", an Art Exhibition featuring 11 artists from around your way. The showcase will be held in Aurora Coffee Shop in Little Five Points District.  A few of my creations and my most favorite people will be present at this gallery…and I generally hate people and never create anything. I'm lying. About one of them.

Look out for details about an afterparty as well--most likely at somebody's house. It's a family affair.

I put a great deal of pressure on myself when it comes to art--what colors to use, where to put certain objects, does it look realistic enough? While every other part of me resonates with comfort, my inner artist is still a little insecure girl, always high-strung, desperate and getting set up on fruitless blind dates.

This time rather than thinking about making art, I tried to focus on life. How something made me feel, how they can be represented, the causes, the cures, the relation between objects, topics and ideas...not how realistic it looks, but how it is conceptually realistic. I started & I finished these yesterday.

For this series, I was inspired by motifs of reproductive organs, the process of conception and gender dynamics. The need for intimacy, the need for solitude and the agony that stems from both. Sexual biology. Anthropological intercourse. I decided on running with this concept and creating a nine-piece series. 9 represents Born; we also spend 9 months in a prenatal environment before coming into this world.

Unlike everything else, I don't isolate myself for preservation.
In fact, I do the very opposite. 
I get bored easily, sifting through lovers.
